I went to the optometrist today to try putting on and removing my contact lenses. I was able to insert and successfully remove the left one, but not the right. The reason why I couldn't insert the right lens is because I have trouble keeping my eye lids open for so long. Does anyone know of any tricks or tips that I could use to help me?
Additional: I use Acuvue Oasys for Nearsightedness.Does anyone have tips for keep my eye lids open so I can put in my contact lenses?
Oh I had the same problem as you (I have quite small eyes) when I first started. I also use the same contacts as you.
Well what I did, is first relax and take a deep breath (this will help you and also try to control your eye twitching haha cause your scared of a foreign object going to your eyes)
Then open your eyes wide haha like your scared or something and use your fingers to hold up your upper eyelid and use your other hand to hold down the lower and hold the contact, then go close to the mirror and stick it in (acuvue oasis is very easy to see since the blue kinda tone is on the contacts). :) It takes practice, and you will gradually get better at it all the time, if you are still having trouble, youtube it. That definately helped me see another person putting them in and helped me practice.Does anyone have tips for keep my eye lids open so I can put in my contact lenses?
Before you try putting on the right lens again, wash your hands and then repeatedly touch the whites of your right eye with your fingertips until you can do it easily. Dry your hands when you hold your eyelids open and press the upper lid lashes against the eyebrow and don't let go. If you do let go then stop, blink and start again.
This is how I put my contacts in:
If it's for your right eye, put the contact on your index finger on your right hand. Use the middle finger on your left hand to pull up your top eyelashes. Use the middle finger on your right hand to pull down your bottom eyelashes. Then, just put the contact in. :) Holding your eyelashes out of your way should help you keep your eyes open for longer.
