tips PLEASEDesperate to use contact lenses, i tried and i couldnt even get it close to my eye, tips?
Pull your bottom eyelid down and slip the contact lens into the bottom white part of your eye and gradually work it up with your bottom eyelid until it fits snugly into the coloured part of your eyeball.
I tried to follow my optician's method but I couldn't do it without my eye closing up and getting watery. I've been using my own method for the past ten years and I've never had any problems.Desperate to use contact lenses, i tried and i couldnt even get it close to my eye, tips?
Make sure you are grabbing the eyelid and pulling it up so you can get the contact in. Try shutting your eye and pushing on your eyelid to see how hardy the eye actually is.
Don't worry, putting them in doesn't hurt (the white of your eye has no nerves in so won;t hurt) but when you are trying to put them in think about something else, like how good your eyes will be when you have them in. This will stop you stressing about it.
Also, you will be able to take them out, it's really easy. If you really can't go to your nearest opticians %26amp; get them to take it out.
I find that if you dont try to put the contact directly onto your eyeball and put it on the eye whites instead, it works well. So here's what you do. Open your eyes as wide as possible, using your middle finger and pulling down on the bottom part of the eye. Your pointer finger (on the same hand) should have the clean contact lens on it. WHile holding your eye open, move your eyeball into the corner as if trying to look at your nose (but more upward). Insert (without pressing) the contact lens very gently onto the white part and the widest portion of your eye . If you press, it will flip and stick to your finger. As soon as the lens suctions to your eye white (AND WITHOUT BLINKING!) move your eyeball underneath the contact lens and then blink very lightly (do not close the eyes tight) and continue to blink (slowly) until you get rid of all the air bubbles. It takes some practice but you will get used to it.
Were you with your optician at the time? They should be able to talk you through the process (it's not nearly the drama that people think it is really).
The fact that you've not mentioned your optician she concerned me a bit - you haven't bought those non-prescription patterned ones that supposedly fit anyone have you? They can be really dangerous. The optician will measure your eye to ensure you get lenses that are the right size and shape for each eye.
Give it time - you'll be surprised at how easy it is. It just needs a bit of patience to start off with, and once you've done it a couple of times, you will barely think about it. And removing them is a breeze too. Practice makes perfect.
Best tip I can give you is to watch what you're doing. It sounds silly but if you're watching what you're doing in the mirror, all of your attention is focussed on what you're doing and the eye that has a finger coming towards it kind of switches off so you can see what you're doing with the other eye.
Good luck!
I've being wearing contacts for 2 years now, I had the same problem when I started, it is something that you will eventually get used to it.
Go back to the opticians who sold you the contacts and explain to them that you are having difficulties putting them, they should give you an appointment to come and have the demonstration on how to put them in again.
In fact, the lenses should not have been sold to you if you were having difficulties putting them in, it is something they are meant to check for when selling you the lenses.
lol thats exactly what i thought. i just practiced for about a week and now it's all easy. i thought i wasn't gonna be able to wear contact lenses cuz i was too scared to put them in my eyes.
What i do is:
Turn my head a little(while looking in the mirror)
Get the contact and put it in the side on my eye(the white part)
For example, if i'm putting it in my left eye, i would turn my head to the left and put it in the left side of my eye.
And for my right eye, i would turn my head to the right and put it in the right side of my eye. Then after you practice for a few days it will be super easy.
I don't know know anyone who uses this technique but i found it out myself. Maybe you should try it? ^_^
Ur optition will give u a free lesson. i use them and it doesnt hurt. The thing to do is put the contact on ur index finger then hold ur bottom eye lid open then look down and pull the top eyelid open with the other hand. Then put the contact in, ur eye is bein held open as ur fingers are holdin it. Then, keepin ur fingers wer they are, look up, down, left and right and then all aroind and down again and then release ur fingers. Dont worry bout is as it wont hurt u.
basically get one hand and use two of your finguires...hold ur upper bit of ur eye and lower...then stretch them ok and then look straight ahead with ur eye...get ur other hand and put a contact lense on of ur finguires from that hand and then whilst ur lookin straight...sit the contact lense upon da cirlce bit of ur eye (DO THIS WHILST LOOKING IN A MIRROR)...its really simple...it took me ages to figuire out how to do it aswell
good luck!
best way I learned to put them is:
~look away with you left/ right eye and with your other eye focus on where your putting your contact in but make sure your eye is opened wide.
Are you that hot girl on yahoo answers? Hi nice to meet you.Are you from the UK?
I just started wearing contacts and I have always been freaked out about touching my eyes. Someone would always have to pin me down just to put eye drops in. When I first put my contacts in, it took me around 10 minutes to finally do it. Now I don't even think about it, so trust me, you'll be able to do it. This is what works for me --
Putting them in - When I first started, I put my contact lens on my right index finger and with my middle and ring fingers I pulled down my bottom lid. Then I took my left hand over my head to pull up the top lid. If you have long lashes like me, you need to pull your top lid open with your lashes GENTLY! Basically the tip of your fingers on your left hand should grab your lashes/top lid and your palm will basically be over your forehead. When you are pulling your bottom/top lids open, you also need to be sure to open your eye as wide as possible. This will help you so that you don't hurt yourself by pulling on your lids too tightly. Also be sure to NOT close your other eye. Open BOTH eyes as wide as possible because this will actually help you to not blink. When putting in your left contact, you can do the same using the same hands, or switch which hand does what -- whatever works best for you. Watch yourself in the mirror as you move your index finger towards your eye, but don't focus on it and don't think about it too much. Once you touch your eye with the lens, look up and gently let go of your top lid. If you do this correctly, the lens should be in so just close your eye and move it around a bit to get rid of air bubbles.
Taking them out -- I hold my top lid open and open both eyes as wide as possible. Then I reach in with my thumb and index finger in a pinching motion to grab the lens and take it out. Be careful though and definitely DO NOT use your nails because you can scratch your eye. It is easier than it sounds though! If this doesn't work, you can try gently rubbing your eye as it will fall out on its own, especially if your eyes are watery, but I would not recommend this as a standard way of taking them out. Another way is to move your lens to the corner of your eye and grabbing it from there, but it's slightly more complicated. I have also been told that moving your lens to the corner of your eye towards your nose and blinking immediately makes the lens fall out, but this has never worked for me.
Once you get used to doing it, you'll find your own methods. I've learned to put them in by just opening my eyes as wide as possible, but my lashes still pose a problem sometimes since they are so long. Still, I know that you will get it and the eye touching phobia will go away! Just make sure you always use a mirror so that you can watch what you are doing and know exactly where your fingers are going. Don't get frustrated and take your time. When you do it for the first time, I would recommend that you take them out and do it again, just so that you get at least some practice putting them in and taking them out. Hope this helps! :)
